Pay: Salary $45,000 - $65,000 per year
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., plus rotating after-hours and weekend on-call coverage

About the Position

Hopper Dispatch, Inc. is seeking an **experienced trucking dispatcher or freight broker** to join our team in Lake City, Florida.

This is not an entry-level dispatch position.

We specialize in **bulk agricultural and commodity freight throughout the Southeast**, working with owner-operators, agricultural facilities, feed mills, fertilizer plants, farms, processors, and other bulk shippers and receivers.

We are looking for someone who understands trucking, can manage a busy board, communicates well with drivers and customers, and knows how to keep freight moving when schedules change.

Experience with **hopper bottom, walking floor, dump, pneumatic, agricultural, feed, fertilizer, grain, or other bulk freight** is strongly preferred.

 What You'll Do

- Dispatch and manage multiple trucks and loads throughout the Southeast

- Schedule and track loads from pickup through final delivery

- Match available trucks with freight while considering location, hours of service, reload opportunities, and customer requirements

- Communicate load instructions, rates, pickup information, appointments, and delivery requirements to drivers and carriers

- Maintain regular communication with customers, shippers, receivers, and drivers

- Coordinate with feed mills, fertilizer facilities, farms, processing plants, and other agricultural operations

- Manage changing schedules, weather delays, plant delays, rejected loads, breakdowns, and other time-sensitive transportation issues

- Find solutions when loads or trucks do not go according to plan

- Help develop efficient reloads and minimize unnecessary deadhead

- Maintain accurate load information, rates, paperwork, notes, and customer records in our transportation management system

- Work closely with our dispatch, billing, and operations teams

- Participate in a rotating **after-hours and weekend on-call schedule**

- Develop and maintain strong long-term relationships with customers, carriers, and owner-operators

 Required Qualifications

- **Minimum 1 year of trucking dispatch or freight brokerage experience**

- Working knowledge of trucking operations and over-the-road freight

- Strong communication skills with both drivers and customers

- Ability to manage multiple trucks, loads, customers, and changing priorities simultaneously

- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

- Excellent attention to detail and follow-through

- Comfortable using transportation management software, email, spreadsheets, and other computer systems

- Ability to remain calm and professional when schedules change or problems arise

- Dependable and able to work independently without constant supervision

Preferred Qualifications

- **5+ years of trucking dispatch or freight brokerage experience**

- Experience with **bulk agricultural freight**

- Hopper bottom, walking floor, dump, pneumatic, grain, feed, fertilizer, or commodity transportation experience

- Existing relationships within the agricultural or bulk transportation industry

- Experience dispatching owner-operators

- Knowledge of agricultural freight markets throughout Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, and surrounding areas

- Experience developing customers, negotiating freight rates, or building a book of business

- Existing transferable book of business or established customer relationships

Compensation

**$45,000–$65,000+ per year**, depending on experience, industry knowledge, customer relationships, and book of business.

Candidates with extensive bulk/agricultural freight experience or an established book of business may qualify for compensation above the listed range.

Who We're Looking For

We want someone who understands that successful dispatching is more than entering loads into a computer.

You should be able to **take ownership of a load from beginning to end**, anticipate problems, communicate before someone has to ask for an update, and find solutions when the original plan changes.

Agricultural trucking moves quickly. Plant schedules change. Trucks break down. Weather affects loading. Customers need answers. Drivers need accurate information.

We are looking for someone who can handle those situations professionally while treating drivers, customers, and coworkers with respect.

If you are an experienced dispatcher or freight broker who understands trucking and wants to build a long-term career in **bulk agricultural transportation**, we would like to hear from you.
